Exhibeo is designed to be a stand alone system. Performing additional simultaneous tasks can significantly affect the Exhibeo show performance.

Recommended Method: Exhibeo comes with Cyberlink PowerDVD®  software for playing DVD video. Simply insert a DVD into the DVD-ROM drive, and when prompted, select the Cyberlink PowerDVD®  player to open the DVD. In the event that you are not given a prompt window, you can open the player by clicking on “Start” and selecting it from the “Programs” section.

Why is there a green tint on my LCD / Plasma screen?

The signal cable could be loose or defective or the image is out of alignment.

  1. Turn off all devices that the signal cable(s) is connected to and reseat all connections from the computer to the display. If this does not fix the problem replace the cable(s) with a known good one from another display. If this solves the problem replace the cable with a new one.
  2. If this did not solve the problem then the image may need to be aligned, see your display user guide for the correct procedure to do this.
  3. If you are still experiencing problems after trying the above solutions contact Brican America LLC Technical Support at support@bricanamerica.com .

What kind of cables do I need for my displays?

It depends on the type of display's you are using. Typically Exhibeo does not come with extra cables unless you request them at the time of ordering.

When you order a new system from Brican America LLC that includes cables we supply UXGA cables that have been tested up to 150'. UXGA cables have DB15 pin male ends and connect from the computer or a VGA splitter to a Plasma or LCD TV that has a female DB15 connector.

If you are connecting to a VGA splitter you will need 1 UXGA cable, that has a male DB15 and a female DB15 end, for each splitter.

If you require more information regarding cabling, contact Technical Support at support@bricanamerica.com

Why do I see Exhibeo running on the computer monitor but not on my other screen(s)?

Diagnosing display issues can be complicated. There are many components in the Exhibeo system that can result in the loss of signal. Follow this process to identify the source of your problem:

  1. You must select which screen(s) you want Exhibeo to display on. This is done when displaying a show through the "Display SlideShow," "Display FlashShow" or the "Calendar Wizard". During this process you will see options for selecting the screens you wish to play to. (i.e. Screen 1, Screen 2, Screen 3, Screen 4). Select these screens by clicking in the checkbox next to each one. If this does not work follow step 2.
  2. Exhibeo utilizes dual head video cards for multiple displays. The correct drivers must be used as well as the secondary port enabled.

Matrox Users: Matrox Video drivers are found on your Exhibeo CD  - Place the Exhibeo CD in your CD Drive and cancel the Exhibeo installation when it begins. Navigate to the CD drive and right click on it. Select "Explore" to see the contents of the CD. The Matrox Drivers are located in the "Matrox Drivers" folder. Select the appropriate drivers for your operating system and follow the prompts for installing. Turn off your system, Connect and power all devices and turn on your system. You will need to enable Dual Head with separate resolutions. (reboot)

ATI UsersATI Drivers are found on the ATI CD. Insert the ATI CD in your CD drive. Installation will begin automatically (Reboot). Your Displays will be detected during startup.

** NOTE -
ALL secondary display resolutions need to be set to 640x480 and 32bit color. (see the Display Manager in Windows Control Panel)

If this does not work follow step 3.

  1. If you are using Video Splitters and/or an RF Modulator check that the power source to these devices is working or try another electrical outlet.

Bypass the Video Splitter(s) to see if they are working properly, if so ensure the splitter is powered on or replace the device.

Disconnect and reconnect all signal cables. Replace kinked cables, allow 12" of clearance around electrical cables, devices and fluorescent lighting.
  2. If none of the above measures solve your problem contact Technical Support at 1-866-588-6995 for additional assistance.

Why does the Screen Resolution on my secondary displays need to be set at 640 x 480?

Exhibeo Slide Shows consist of a series of individual 640 x 480 slides. Setting secondary displays (any display other than your main computer display) to a resolution higher than 640 x 480 may produce undesirable image quality as well as impact the performance of your computer components and video splitters.

To Change your Display's Resolution Settings:
Go to your computer "Control Panel" and enter "Display".  Click on each of the secondary displays (2, 3, 4) and change the settings to 640 x 480 and 32 bit (highest) color.

If you are still experiencing problems after making these changes, contact Technical Support at support@bricanamerica.com

What are the maximum cable lengths I can use?

Official length limitations: These are standards that have been defined by industry associations.

  • DVI digital - 5 meters
  • USB—5 meters (about 16.5 feet)

Unofficial length limitations: These signaling methods do not have an 'official' defined maximum length. The limitations listed here are based on common real-world experience. Use these as a guideline—your application may allow for a longer cable run, or may call for a shorter distance. Check with your equipment manufacturer—they may specify a maximum cable length. The best advice for these types of cables is to use as short of a cable as you can.

  • Audio (speaker level)—500 ft (use lower gauge wire as distance increases)
  • Audio (digital coax)—50 ft
  • Keyboard (PS/2)—25 ft w/o booster
  • RF Modulated (CATV, SATV)—150 ft (use RG-6 coaxial wire)
  • Mouse (PS/2)—25 ft w/o booster
  • S-video—150 ft
  • VGA—100 ft without a booster/amplifier

Installation tips: Useful tips when installing your Exhibeo signal cables.

·          Always use better quality VGA cables.

·          Always allow extra cable for unforeseen obstacles and future considerations.

·          Avoid laying cable on sharp edges – the casing can be cut and wiring exposed.

·         Avoid bending cables further than a natural curve – Sharp bends in cabling will stress the wires and over time can cause deterioration in the metal and a resulting signal loss.

·         Avoid electrical devices such as electrical wiring, electrical junction boxes, fluorescent lighting ballasts, etc

Why do I get white screens on my displays when displaying Exhibeo Flash Shows?

Flash Shows utilize the Adobe Flash Player (formerly Macromedia). If you have installed other software recently this may have altered the Flash Player settings. To correct this problem, uninstall Exhibeo and reinstall it. If this does not work you may have to uninstall any recently installed software prior to reinstalling Exhibeo.

Note: Exhibeo is a standalone system and is not designed for multi-use.

If the above solutions do not resolve your problem, contact Exhibeo Technical Support at support@bricanamerica.com

How can I stop a running Exhibeo show from playing on the computer monitor while allowing the shows to continue to playing other displays throughout the clinic?

To stop the Exhibeo shows from displaying on your primary computer monitor it must first be made the ‘active’ display. Once the screen is ‘active’ simply press the ‘Esc’ key on your keyboard to stop any running shows.

To make a display ‘active’, click in the screen area of the display with your mouse. This method also works with other displays but its difficult to do this on display’s that are not visible from the computer.

Do I need a special Plasma Screen for high altitude installations?

Most plasma manufacturers use Denver, Colorado (5500ft above sea level) as their maximum elevation for standard screens. Using a standard screen above this level usually causes a buzzing sound and increased power consumption. This is related to how the plasma gases respond to increased atmospheric pressure. At the time of writing, using a non-high altitude plasma in high altitudes, according to some manufacturers, does not affect performance nor warranty.

A few plasma manufacturers make screens designed for use about 5500 feet. However, the best choice for a high altitude application may be an LCD screen, which is not affected by altitude.

NOTE: Always check with manufacturers before requesting a low altitude plasma screen for a high altitude location.

How do I get support for my Windows 98 or ME Exhibeo computer?

If your current Exhibeo computer's operating system is Windows 98 or ME, and you wish to upgrade to a newer version of Exhibeo, you will also need to upgrade to Windows XP with Service Pack 2. The XP upgrade will also require a hardware upgrade if not already performed. Please contact Brican America LLC Technical Support at support@bricanamerica.com for the latest system requirements.

Notes:
As of July 11, 2006 Microsoft has discontinued support for both Windows 98 (including SE) and Windows ME.

What is the range of my wireless mouse?

Most wireless devices will transmit up to 25 feet away from the receiver. (Check your device user guide) This distance can be affected by walls and other items between the transmitter (mouse) and the receiver. If you are experiencing problems try the following:

  1. Replace the batteries with known good ones.
  2. Raise the height of the Receiver above obstacles or people.
  3. Purchase an extension cable for the receiver to bring it closer.

Is it best to power off the Exhibeo computer after hours?

The Exhibeo computer is a hi-performance computer and generates a significant amount of heat during normal operation. To prolong component life we recommend turning your system off when it will not be in use for extended periods of time.

Can I connect my Exhibeo Computer to the Internet?

The Exhibeo computer is capable of connecting to the internet. However, the internet presents inherent risks such as viruses, malware and data loss. These risks can be minimized through the use of Antivirus software, firewall protection and the latest security updates from Microsoft and other vendors. Brican America LLC recommends consulting with your local computer security experts or network administrator on the best products for your situation.

Can I install software other than Exhibeo on the Exhibeo computer?

Exhibeo is designed as a stand alone Patient Education system and requires as much of the computers resources as possible. We do not recommend using your computer for other functions as it may interfere with Exhibeo's specific functions and impair the delivery of your messages.

Note: If you would like to install other software for uses while Exhibeo is not running please contact technical support at support@bricanamerica.com for more information.

Why is there a black bar across my display?

This problem can be the result of misaligned display's in the Display's Manager control panel.

To correct this problem:

  1. Close all running programs.
  2. Right click on your Computer Desktop and select "Properties", then "Settings"
  3. In the "Settings" window you will see rectangles representing your Exhibeo displays. Each display is numbered (1,2,3,4)  Align the displays horizontally and in numerical order from left to right. The tops of rectangles need to be horizontally aligned.
  4. Click "Apply" and "OK"

If this solution did not correct your problem check your Display(s) User Manual for instructions on how to set up your display to receive a 640x480 signal from a PC source.

What display/screen resolutions are best for Exhibeo?

Exhibeo Slide Shows consist of a series of individual 640 x 480 slides. Setting secondary displays (any display other than your main computer display) to a resolution higher than 640 x 480 may produce undesirable image quality as well as impact the performance of your computer components and video splitters.

Optimal Primary (main computer) Screen settings are 800 x 600 - 32 bit (highest) color. Creating slides at a higher resolution distorts text placement when the slide plays on a 640 x 480 display.

To Change your Secondary Display Resolution Settings:
Go to your computer "Control Panel" and enter "Display".  Click on each of the secondary displays (2, 3, 4) and change the settings to 640 x 480 and 32 bit (highest) color.

To Change your Primary Display Resolution Settings:
Go to your computer "Control Panel" and enter "Display".  Click on the Primary Screen (1) and change the settings to 800 x 600 and 32 bit (highest) color.

If you are still experiencing problems after making these changes, contact technical support at support@bricanamerica.com.

Why is there no picture on my Plasma / LCD TV display?

Plasma's and LCD TV's sometimes require configuring of the signal input type. This information can usually be found in the display user guide. Always connect all your displays while the computer and all signal splitting devices are turned off. Once all your displays and signal splitting devices are connected start by turning the Displays on first, then any signal splitting devices and finally the Exhibeo computer. The displays should be automatically detected during startup. If you have followed these guidelines and you are still having problems with your displays please contact Technical Support at 1-866-588-6995 and a technical support representative will assist you.

Why does my Plasma screen display 2 Exhibeo slides simultaneously?

How do I connect the Displays in my Exhibeo Quadruple Head System?

The Exhibeo Quadruple Head System contains 2 video cards with 2 ports each [Primary (1) and Secondary (2)]. The Dual Head video card has the ability to play an independent Exhibeo show from each video card port. The video signal from each port can go direct to a single display or be split into additional displays with the use of 1 or more VGA splitters.

Primary Port - This port is typically reserved for the main computer display, however it can be used for Exhibeo shows by placing the primary display in an area visible to patients or through a VGA splitter to another display or group of displays.

Secondary Port  - This port can connect directly to a single display or through a VGA splitter to a group of displays.

Installing Matrox Drivers - Exhibeo Dual head systems used the Matrox G440 & G550 Dual Head Video Cards. These cards require specific drivers and settings to function optimally with the Exhibeo system. Download the latest Unified Drivers for your Video Card and Operating system here: http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/unified/home.cfm

Once you have downloaded the Exhibeo Drivers, turn your computer off, connect all your displays and splitters (if applicable), install the Video Drivers and follow the instructions for dual head settings with separate resolutions. Set all external display resolutions to 640x480 with 32 bit color.

Open Exhibeo, click on "Display Slideshow" and click "Next". If there is not 2 available screens please call Technical Support @ 1-866-588-6995 for additional assistance.
